Cooperation in the Helsinki Region
The cooperation in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area is based on the networked cooperation of the regional cities and its deepening.
Cooperation is carried out in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area Cooperation Group formed by the cities of Espoo, Helsinki, Kauniainen and Vantaa as well as in a wider sense in the Helsinki Region Cooperation Assembly formed by fourteen municipalities in the Helsinki region.
The Helsinki Metropolitan Area Cooperation Group is a steering and cooperation body of leading elected politicians of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area cooperation. It is responsible for steering and monitoring the cooperation based on the vision and strategy and discusses strategically important cooperation issues.
The main cooperation projects include developing cooperation and ownership steering, improving the Helsinki Metropolitan Area’s international competitiveness, the cooperation of land use, housing and transport as well as improving welfare services and developing service production.
